Shell model foundations of the proxy-SU(3) symmetry: Nucleon pairs creating nuclear deformation

Abstract Proxy-SU(3) symmetry is an approximation scheme extending the Elliott SU(3) algebra of sd shell to heavier shells, in order make possible application properties cutting down size required calculations. When introduced 2017, had been justified by calculations carried out within Nilsson model, elementary model based on a 3-dimensional harmonic oscillator with cylindrical symmetry, applicable deformed nuclei. Recently our group managed map cartesian basis onto spherical basis, fully clarifying approximations used proxy-SU(3) and paving way for using heavy As by-product, relation 0[110] pairs earlier de Shalit-Goldhaber Federman-Pittel has clarified.
